Your airport journey
A Kitchener–Waterloo-to-DTW transfer is a private ride from the actual Kitchener or Waterloo address on your reservation to Detroit Metro Airport. It brings a home, office or campus pickup into one cross-border airport plan. The two cities and their university sites are not one interchangeable pickup point, and YKF is a different airport from DTW.
Check the reference road journey: Kitchener City Hall → DTW McNamara (opens in a new tab) ↗
This opens a sample road route, not a confirmed itinerary or a live estimate on this page. Replace Kitchener City Hall with your address and McNamara with Evans if your flight uses that terminal. Allow separately for airport procedures, border inspection, planned stops and conditions; a map time is not a promised arrival.
The details that shape your ride
A downtown Kitchener office and a Waterloo university residence can mean different starts to the same airport journey. Enter the actual building address and accessible entrance. For business travel, include any office loading instructions; for a hotel, confirm the lobby where your party will meet.

Include the property name and city so a similarly named location does not become the meeting point.
Flight & road coordination
Your requested pickup must leave time for a long drive, entry into the United States and the airport’s departure procedures. Supply the flight number so dispatch can review the DTW terminal and schedule. A navigation estimate does not account for every inspection, rest stop or baggage deadline.
The main campus is at 200 University Avenue West in Waterloo. The university's Health Sciences campus is at 10 Victoria Street South in Kitchener. Copy the building address from your host's instructions, and add the entrance where bags can be loaded. Do not substitute the main campus when the traveller is leaving from a Kitchener appointment.
A colleague in Kitchener and a student in Waterloo can request one itinerary with both pickup addresses. Include the party and luggage at each stop so the order can be reviewed before the flight margin is set. If everyone can meet at one confirmed location, compare that simpler departure with the multi-stop estimate.
For a term abroad or a longer family trip, separate large suitcases, cabin bags, boxes and equipment in the request. Add child-seat quantities where needed. The sedan or SUV choice depends on the whole load; do not assume the displayed passenger capacity also leaves room for every traveller's maximum airline allowance.
Use the operating airline to confirm McNamara or Evans Terminal and its check-in and baggage deadlines. A delayed departure does not automatically move the agreed vehicle pickup.

Your Kitchener–Waterloo to DTW estimate is in U.S. dollars (USD). Compare the amount for your whole party, luggage and itinerary—not a single shared-shuttle seat or a different destination.
For solo travellers, couples and smaller parties with a lighter luggage load.

More room for a larger party and checked luggage. Seating depends on the vehicle configuration.

For larger parties travelling together, with space for checked suitcases and carry-ons.

One large suitcase + one carry-on per passenger
A different luggage mix? Share the bag counts and sizes with dispatch for a fit check, including child seats or oversized items. Sedan and SUV layouts are alternatives, not combined loads. The Sprinter guide shows large suitcases and carry-ons together; dispatch confirms bag sizes and vehicle configuration. The pictured model is not a guaranteed assignment.
One way, per vehicle—not per passenger. All amounts in USD.
Planning ranges for a direct Kitchener–Waterloo to DTW transfer.
These are planning estimates, not guaranteed fares. Exact addresses, travel date, stops and availability can put your quote outside these ranges. Multiple SUV models are available; dispatch confirms the assigned vehicle. Each return leg and any different destination needs its own estimate.
Applicable cross-border fees, taxes, fuel surcharges and airport fees are included. Exact addresses, date, vehicle, stops and availability determine your trip-specific estimate. Confirm gratuity, child-seat charges and any changes outside the agreed itinerary with dispatch.
The request is free. Final fare confirmation usually takes 1–2 hours and can take up to 24 hours. An online estimate is not a confirmed reservation. For near-term travel, call to check availability; otherwise we recommend requesting at least 24 hours ahead.

Add extra pickup or destination addresses using Add a stop. Tell dispatch how long each stop may take. Use the return-trip prompt later in the booking flow for the second leg; each date, address and pickup plan needs confirmation.
A return transfer and a vehicle staying with you are different arrangements. For several appointments, ask whether separate transfers or Hourly / As Directed better fits the itinerary. See how estimates and confirmation work →
We track arriving flights. Keep dispatch informed about delayed baggage or arrival formalities and confirm additional waiting charges beyond these allowances.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure for free cancellation and a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours and no-shows are non-refundable.
If your flight is cancelled, we offer free rescheduling. Contact dispatch with the replacement flight details to arrange your new pickup; a changed flight should not be left as an unreported no-show.
The normal border crossing is included. If a traveller-related issue causes a border hold, waiting is charged at USD $2.00 per minute until the traveller is released. This is different from the normal border queue or the airport pickup allowance.
Prepare the correct documents for each passenger and clarify any travel-status questions with the relevant authorities before departure. A transport reservation cannot guarantee entry or release time.
Compare the whole journey
Choose the arrangement that works for your party, luggage and actual endpoint. Other providers' routes, schedules and terms should be checked directly.
If flights remain flexible, compare DTW with available departures from Region of Waterloo International Airport or Pearson. Include the complete ground journey, parking or transfer, bags and any hotel night. The airport that offers the lowest airfare may not offer the lowest total for the party. When comparing a scheduled service, confirm that it actually serves DTW on your date and how you reach its pickup point. A Waterloo-to-Pearson shuttle is not the same route. Check baggage rules and costs for all travellers before comparing it with a door-to-door private estimate.
U.S.-bound travel
Dispatch considers the complete route from Kitchener or Waterloo to DTW when reviewing the Windsor–Detroit and Sarnia–Port Huron options. Road conditions and the airport approach matter alongside the reported border queue.
Each passenger’s requirements depend on citizenship, immigration status and age. Check the official guidance before travel, including requirements for children and any onward flight. Border authorities decide admission and inspection time.

Published border waits are one planning input. Road traffic, approach queues and individual inspections can add time. Dispatch reviews the crossing with the itinerary; a displayed wait does not guarantee arrival.

Before you travel
Practical answers for this direction of travel. Contact dispatch to review details specific to your party.
Ask dispatch a questionUse the city and full address where you will actually be collected. A Waterloo campus, a Kitchener hotel and a home elsewhere in the region can have different approaches. The exact address helps dispatch provide an estimate and avoids confirming the wrong pickup point.
List the number and size of the bags, plus items such as a stroller or sports equipment, when requesting the quote. Dispatch reviews the vehicle against both passengers and luggage. Do not assume the advertised passenger capacity also leaves space for every possible combination of cases.
Include both addresses and the number of passengers joining at each. Dispatch reviews the pickup order, additional travel and luggage before confirming the airport schedule. Multiple stops should be built into the request rather than added after a departure time has already been agreed.
Provide the operating airline and flight number so the terminal can be checked. DTW’s McNamara and Evans terminals serve different airlines. Your confirmation should identify the intended airport journey, while you should still check airline updates before departure in case the itinerary changes.
Share your addresses, travel date, passengers and luggage. Review estimated options, then confirm the final trip details with dispatch.
